Madame Saito B&B
Trip Ideas
124 Lombard St., 215/922-2515
Trilingual Madame Saito does it all out of her two adjoined Society Hill row homes, just a block north of South Street. In addition to running the bed-and-breakfast, she operates a restaurant and catering business specializing in Japanese, French, and Thai cuisine (not fusion, which Madame does not like, just all three cuisines separately). She also teaches ballroom dancing and sushi-making classes in her spare time.
For $70–100 a night, you can have a comfortable private room decorated in Japanese and French themes, and discounts are available for stays of a week or more. Some guests stay for months.
For an additional fee, you can enjoy a traditional Japanese breakfast cooked by Madame herself.
