The charming Thomas Bond House bed-and-breakfast is in the heart of Independence National Historical Park, adjacent to Welcome Park where William Penn’s home once stood. It has 12 guest rooms, including two large suites with working fireplaces and whirlpool tubs.

Built in 1769, the Georgian-style home was named for its first owner, Thomas Bond, acclaimed surgeon and friend of Ben Franklin, who was a regular guest at the home. With period furnishings and personal touches including books, games, complimentary sherry, and fresh-baked cookies, a stay here feels like visiting the home of a colonial-era friend.

Rooms start at $115, with the largest suites up to $190. Continental breakfast is served on weekdays and a full breakfast is included on weekends. Complimentary wine and cheese is offered, and all the restaurants of Old City are steps away, including the historic City Tavern across the street.
