When Philadelphians want to see movies that don’t feature explosions, dude-hit-in-the-balls gags, or boobs (at least not American boobs), they usually head to one of the Ritz Theatres in Old City. A total of 12 screens are spread out over the three different Ritz theaters, all offering clean, enjoyable places to watch good films.
Concessions include the standards—Jujubes and Raisinets—along with more upscale offerings that vary by theater but may include Toblerone and Lindt chocolates, yogurt-covered pretzels, coffee, and tea.
The art-house chain was recently acquired by Landmark Theaters, but will keep the Ritz name as well as its mix of independent, international, and all-around good artsy-fartsy programming. There is a parking lot at the Bourse and Ritz East, and you can have your ticket validated for a reduced rate at any of the theaters.
