The majority of Philadelphia’s parks and gardens are maintained by the Fairmount Park system even if they are not physically connected to the major areas of East and West Parks. You’re never very far from a park bench to sit and take a break and read your newspaper anywhere in Philadelphia.
Several impressive arboretums, children’s playgrounds, and historic gardens can also be found.
