Despite the ritzy association with the name “Rittenhouse,” the no-frills Rittenhouse Fitness Club is one of the best deals in town. It has all the standard equipment, but lacks most of the lavish amenities and high prices of other Center City gyms.
Many members have been coming forever, so it’s a place where everybody knows your name but no one is likely to hit on you while you exercise.
All the standard classes are held, including yoga, pilates, aerobics, and spinning. If you get a chance, take a spinning class with Mario, where the jokes and conversation among his loyal following are as much a part of the experience as the sweaty workout.
