Huaraz and the Cordillera Blanca
Trekking the Andes
Trip Ideas
The sparkling blue skies and dazzling white peaks of the Huaraz area make for unforgettable trekking and climbing experiences, in the same league with the European Alps, the Alaska Range, or the Himalaya.
The Cordillera Blanca, the second-highest mountain range in the world, lures the lion’s share of visitors with its easy access and huge range of options for both trekkers and climbers. Nearly every peak in the range is encompassed by Peru’s most important alpine park, Parque Nacional Huascarán.
Though more difficult to reach, the Cordillera Huayhuash has a more remote, wilderness feel and climbs only for experts.
