The little visited area of north-central Peru is a good stopover for tourists en route from the coast to Chachapoyas, or vice versa. Here, the Moyobamba cloud forest and Tarapoto jungle have the feeling of being little explored by tourists.

While the cities themselves have only a mild draw, the surrounding areas are rich in activity and natural beauty.
