The Canadian-run Spanish Panama (Vía Argentina and Avenida 3B, tel. 213-3121, www.spanishpanama.com) is a well-established school in El Cangrejo that offers a range of private and group classes. In April 2010 it moved to new digs a few blocks away from its old home, which had been plagued by construction noise.

Group classes that include airport pickup, lodging, breakfast and (optional) salsa dance classes start at US$400/week. A one-week crash course (language instruction only) is US$180. Free weekly cultural and orientation activities are also available.

To get to Spanish Panama, turn north off Vía Argentina on the street between Churrería Manolo and Restaurante y Cafetería El Trapiche. The school will be on the right.
