Restaurante La Casa Vegetariana (Calle D near Vía Veneto, tel. 391-4410, 7 a.m.–11 p.m. Mon.–Fri., 7 A.M.–9 P.M. Sat.–Sun.), in the El Cangrejo aparthotel quarter, is so utilitarian it makes a post office look cozy—and this is its new location. The owners are earnest and friendly, the place is certainly roomy, and the food ranges from flavorful to at least virtuous-tasting.
Dishes are Asian-oriented and focus on soy and other beans prepared numerous ways. Each portion on the sizable cafeteria line costs less than a dollar. Try one of the homemade (nonalcoholic) chichas (fruit juices).
