United States: The U.S. embassy recently moved from central Panama City to an enormous, fortress-like compound in Clayton, in the former Canal Zone. The American Citizens Service Unit (Building 520, Clayton, tel. 207-7030, fax 207-7303, http://panama.usembassy.gov, 8 a.m.–noon Mon.–Fri.) is closed on the last Wednesday of every month and on all U.S. and Panamanian holidays. The main embassy phone number is 207-7000.
