For a more down-home version of the Fifth Street Public Market, explore the crafts, food, and street performances at the Eugene Saturday Market (8th Ave. and Oak St., 541/686-8885, www.eugenesaturdaymarket.org, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Sat. Apr.–mid-Nov.); the good vibes and creative spirit of the community are in ample evidence.
The market moves indoors to the Lane County Fairgrounds (13th Ave. and Jefferson St.) to become the Holiday Market from the weekend before Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve (open Sat.–Sun. and some weekdays).
The small farmers market (9 a.m.–4 p.m. Sat. Apr.–mid-Nov. and 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Tues. May–Oct.) set up across 8th Avenue from the crafts area is a good place to get fresh produce.
