Located 10 miles off Route 99W south of Corvallis on the way up into the Coast Range is Tyee Wine Cellars (26335 Greenberry Rd., Corvallis, 541/753-8754, noon–5 p.m. Sat.–Sun. Apr.–Dec., noon–5 p.m. Fri.–Mon. mid-June–Labor Day). It’s easy to incorporate a stop here into trips to nearby destinations such as Finley Wildlife Refuge, Mary’s Peak, or Alsea Falls.

Pinot gris, pinot noir, chardonnay, and Gewürztraminer are featured. After wine-tasting, you can enjoy a picnic on the grounds of this historic farm site or walk a 1.5-mile loop to beaver ponds. Several other wineries are also located in the area; see www.bentoncountywineries.com if you want to explore some of the smaller operations.
