Near the Oregon Caves, camping is available at Grayback (Illinois Valley Ranger District, 26568 Redwood Hwy., Cave Junction, 541/592-4000, www.fs.fed.us/r6/rogue-Siskiyou, $10), 12 miles from Cave Junction on Route 46. There are 25 tent sites and 16 trailer sites close to Sucker Creek. Electricity and piped water are provided, with a store, laundry, and showers within 1 mile.
Closer to the caves is Cave Creek (same address as Grayback, $10); take Route 46 four miles south of the caves to Forest Service Road 4032. Piped water and pit toilets are provided, and showers are available 5 miles away. You’ll also find a ranger station and informative campfire programs here on summer evenings.
