You’ll find most motel accommodations clustered around the two Grants Pass exits on I-5, though there are a number of good choices right downtown.

$50–100

At I-5 Exit 58, economy choices include Bestway Inn (1253 NE 6th St., 541/479-2952, $50 and up) and Motel 6 (1800 NE 7th St., 541/474-1331, $54 and up).

A more unique choice is the Redwood Motel (815 NE 6th St., 541/476-0878 or 888/535-8824, www.redwoodmotel.com, $75 and up), with large pleasant rooms and a parklike setting complete with a grove of redwoods and a 350-year-old Palmer oak. Add in a pool, a hot tub, a fitness center, and complimentary breakfast and you’ve got one of the city’s best deals.

Two older well-maintained hotels within walking distance of downtown restaurants are Knights Inn (104 SE 7th St., 541/479-5595 or 800/826-6835, $62 and up) and the Discovery Inn (748 SE 7th St., 541/476-7793, $60 and up).

Across the river from downtown is a charming option with riverfront access. Motel Del Rogue (2600 Rogue River Hwy., 541/479-2111 or 866/479-2111, www.moteldelrogue.com, $85 and up) is a classic 1930s motel that has been lovingly updated but not transformed. Most of the units overlook the river. The motel sits on two acres of parklike property and is very clean, comfortable, and quiet.

There are plenty of midrange hotel-chain choices at the I-5 exits, and most of them have pools, allow pets, and include breakfast. Two such options are the Comfort Inn (1889 NE 6th St., 541/479-8301, $85 and up) and the Best Western Inn at the Rogue (8959 Rogue River Hwy., 541/582-2200 or 800/238-0700, $90 and up).

$100–150

Also out by I-5, these hotels both have pools and continental breakfast: Best Western Grants Pass (111 NE Agness Ave., 541/476-1117, www.bestwesterninn.com, $110 and up) and La Quinta Inn (243 NE Morgan Lane, 541/472-1808 or 800/531-5900, www.laquinta.com, $100 and up).

With 174 rooms on the Rogue River, the Riverside Inn Resort (971 SE 6th St., 541/476-6873 or 800/334-4567, www.riverside-inn.com, $125 and up) is both right downtown and right on the river. Two swimming pools, two hot tubs, a 24-hour coffee shop, and a day spa provide luxury in a style that you can easily get accustomed to. The Hellgate jet-boat excursions depart from just below the hotel.

Next door, the Lodge at Riverside (955 SE 7th St., 541/955-0600 or 877/955-0600, http://thelodgeatriverside.com, $125 and up) offers very stylish rooms and suites, many with balconies facing the river. The lobby is in a huge log cabin with a stone fireplace, and in the middle of lush gardens beside the river is an outdoor pool.

$150–200

One of the premium lodgings in the area is Weasku Inn (5560 Rogue River Hwy., 541/471-8000 or 800/493-2758, www.weasku.com, $199 and up), a venerable river lodge that was the secret retreat of Clark Gable, Walt Disney, Carole Lombard, and other entertainment figures in the 1930s and 1940s. Only 17 guest rooms are available, ranging from lodge rooms and suites to an A-frame cabin. All look out on the Rogue River and have genuine rustic-chic decor. A deluxe continental breakfast is served, as is evening wine and cheese.
