Twenty miles (a little more than 30 minutes’ drive) west of Sisters on Route 126 is one of Oregon’s most family-oriented skiing areas, Hoodoo Ski Bowl (541/822-3799 or 541/822-3337 snow phone, www.hoodoo.com, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Sun.–Tues. and Thurs., 9 a.m.–9 p.m. Fri.–Sat., closed Wed. Thanksgiving–Easter, snow conditions permitting, $42 adults, $29 seniors and youth).
Hoodoo has five chairlifts and a rope tow. The maximum vertical drop is 1,035 feet, and the runs are fairly evenly divided among advanced, intermediate, and beginner levels of difficulty. Prices jump $2–3 during holidays.
