April’s at Nye Beach (749 NW 3rd St., 541/265-6855, 5–9 p.m. Wed.–Sun., $16–23) is a small stylish café just across the street from the Sylvia Beach Hotel. Fish soup and penne tossed with roasted hazelnuts, smoky bacon, and Gorgonzola are standouts in a creative Mediterranean-influenced menu. House-made bruschetta and steamed Manila clams are excellent appetizers.
For dessert, have an éclair dipped in chocolate ganache and topped with slivered almonds. Affordable wines by the glass add to one of Newport’s best dining experiences.
