Accommodations

The Puerto Ángel area offers dozens of accommodations, most of which are modest, home-grown guesthouse-style lodgings. The successful ones have given their legion of savvy repeat customers what they want: clean, basic, tepid-water accommodations in tranquil, television-free settings where Puerto Ángel’s natural isolation and tropical charm set the tone for long, restful holidays.

Visitors have their choice of several neighborhoods. In Puerto Ángel itself, hotels and guesthouses dot the hillside above the main town beach, the pier, and the single main business street. The Playa Panteón lodgings, by contrast, are on the sleepier west side of the bay, above the lineup of rustic palapa restaurants along petite Playa Panteón.

Outside of Puerto Ángel visitors also have many choices, mostly right on the beach, but some atop breezy view hillsides, above the plumy, west-side country beachfront hamlets of Zipolite, San Agustinillo, and Mazunte.

Unless otherwise specified, prices listed are year-round rates, excepting Christmas–New Year’s and Easter holiday seasons, when rates customarily rise 25–50 percent, depending on demand.
