Apartments and Rentals
For longer stays in Oaxaca City, many visitors prefer the convenience and economy of an apartment or house rental. Choices vary, from spartan studios to deluxe homes big enough for entire extended families. Prices depend strongly upon season and amenities, from $350 per month for the cheapest to around $1,000 for the most luxurious.
At the low end, you can expect a clean, furnished apartment with kitchen and bathroom and once- or twice-a-week housecleaning service. Higher up the scale, houses vary from moderately luxurious homes to sky’s-the-limit mansions, blooming with built-in designer luxuries, such as a swimming pool or tennis court, and including at least a gardener, cook, and maid.
Shopping Around
The Oaxaca City pages of this website recommend several solid guesthouse, bed-and-breakfast, and apartment rentals. You can find many more through on-the-spot local contacts, such as the tourist newspapers’ want ad sections, websites, neighborhood For Rent or Renta signs, and local listing agents.
If you prefer making rental arrangements prior to arrival, you can usually email, fax, telephone, or write managers—many of whom speak English—directly, using the contact information given in the destination sections of this guide.
Furthermore, the Internet Resources section also recommends a number of apartment and house rental listing sources in Oaxaca City and Puerto Escondido.
