Macedon’s Mid-Lakes Erie Macedon Landing is the home marina to Mid-Lakes Navigation (315/685-8500, www.midlakesnav.com) where you can learn to drive one of the gleaming wooden canal boats that await visitors who come to relive a bit of history. These simple-to-pilot boats can be driven by anyone with a few lessons.
Nearby Long Acre Farms (1342 Eddy Rd., 315/986-4202, www.longacrefarms.com), a family farm with Scandinavian jumping pillow (for all ages), gemstone panning, and the Amazing Maize Maze attract visitors.
