About eight miles south of Katonah is one of Westchester’s more unusual lodgings, the 12-bedroom 
Crabtree’s Kittle House Restaurant and Inn (11 Kittle Rd., off Rte. 117, 914/666-8044, www.kittlehouse.com, $147 s, $167 d, with continental breakfast). Now over 200 years old, the building has been a carriage house, roadhouse, girls’ school, guesthouse for the Mount Kisco Little Theater, restaurant, and inn. Henry Fonda and Tallulah Bankhead were among the actors who overnighted here.
Attached to the inn is a restaurant ($18–32) serving lunch Monday–Friday, brunch on Sunday, and dinner daily. The eclectic menu includes a mix of innovative Italian, French, Asian, and American dishes, with a tasting menu available. Live jazz is often played on the weekends. Reservations are recommended for this popular spot.
