Now a museum (1 E. 70th St., 212/288-0700, www.frick.org, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Tues.–Sat., 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Sun., adults $18, seniors $12 and students $5, children under 10 not admitted), the former home of industrialist Henry Clay Frick is one of the city’s most beautiful residences. It’s a classic 1914 mansion built around a courtyard and an exquisite European art collection.
Every room is hung with masterpieces—by Breughel, El Greco, Hogarth, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Turner, and others—yet the place maintains a private, homey feel.
