Designer and furniture maker John Lomas makes all of the high-quality furniture at Cotswold Furniture Makers (132 Mountain Rd., 888/253-3738, www.cotswoldfurniture.com, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. daily; seasonal hours may vary) in his local workshop. By turns contemporary and traditional, the pieces are paired in the showroom with lighting, pottery, and glassware by other Vermont artists, plus Tibetan rugs—all of which is for sale.
Meanwhile, artist Susan Bayer Fishman owns and runs Stowe Craft Gallery (55 Mountain Rd., 802/253-4693, www.stowecraft.com, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. daily; extended holiday season hours 10 a.m.–7 p.m. daily; extended summer hours 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Thurs.–Sat.), an epic collection of many other artists’ works—knickknacks like pewter measuring cups, glazed vases, and hand-carved backgammon sets.
