Under $100

At Cobblestone Inn of Plymouth (304 Main St., Plymouth, 603/536-2330, www.hotelnh.com, $70–100), the sunny, brightly colored rooms are no-frills, motel-style chambers. The property has an outdoor pool.

$100–150

You may not end up writing home about the accommodations at Kancamangus Motor Lodge (Rte. 122, Lincoln, www.kancmotorlodge.com, $100–150), but for the price, you won’t find much to complain about, either. In addition to the clean rooms (most with two double beds and steam bath showers, and some with private balconies), the lodge has an indoor pool. It’s located on the Kanc, a mile and a half west of Lincoln center.

Convenient to Plymouth State University, the historic bed-and-breakfast Federal House Inn (27 Rte. 25, Plymouth, 603/536-4644, www.federalhouseinnnh.com, $130–170) sits just at the base of Tenney Mountain and offers five guest rooms and suites. Rooms are unusually pretty, and come with amenities like claw-foot tubs, four-poster beds, fireplaces, and Bose alarm clock–radios.

Twenty-one comfortable rooms grace the Woodstock Inn (135 Main St./Rte. 3, Main St., Woodstock, 603/745-3951, www.woodstockinnnh.com, $125–165), most with amenities like gas fireplaces and pedestal sinks, and some with whirlpool tubs and views of the river. All include coffeemakers, access to the inn’s health club, and a full breakfast.
