The rides at Canobie Lake Park (85 North Policy St., Salem, 603/893-3506, www.canobie.com, hours vary, $25 adults, $14 children under 48” and seniors, free children 3 and under, $17 night-pass) might not be able to hold up to the Great Americas and Six Flags of today, but back at the turn of the 20th century, genteel visitors flocked there to ride on the steam train and carousels.
Canobie Lake Park retains some of that old-time charm, even as it has added all of the stomach-wrenching modern rides a 12-year-old could ever ask for.
