Watch the goods getting made as you tour the facilities at Hampshire Pewter (43 Mill St., 603/569-4944, www.hampshirepewter.com, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Mon.–Sat.; tours on the hour 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Mon.–Fri.), then afterward pore over the selection of candlesticks, baby spoons and cups, serving pieces, and Christmas ornaments. Engraving services are also offered.
Anyone hungering for both a good book and a good meal at once should head toward Camelot Books and Gifts (40 N. Main St., Wolfeboro, 603/569-1771, www.wolfeborocamelot.com, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. daily) .The butter-yellow storefront sells both adult and children’s books, plus a hefty supply of house-made products such as cheddar-cheese spreads and hot pepper jellies.
Outdoor enthusiasts can stock up on gear before hitting the slopes or trails at The Nordic Skier (47 N. Main St., 603/569-3151, www.nordicskiersports.com, 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Mon.–Sat.). The well-equipped shop has everything for mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and ice skating—including lessons.
