Whether you are a fan of the game or not, it’s impossible not to get caught up in the high-energy excitement of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (1000 W. Columbus Ave., 413/781-6500, www.hoophall.com, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Sun.–Thurs.; 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Fri.–Sat., $17 adults, $14 seniors, $12 youth 5–15, free children under 5), which was completely redesigned in 2000 to provide even more interactive exhibits on the sport.
In addition to the predictable cases of players’ uniforms and really big shoes, the hall has a circular gallery with the names and faces of all its members, and a large central court where you can practice your own ball-handling skills.
