Don’t let the name fool you; the Camden Opera House (29 Elm St./Rte. 1, Camden, 207/236-7963, www.camdenoperahouse.com) is actually a multi-genre performing arts center that features folk and classical music performances and a popular summer lecture series.
Hotel rooms are hard to come by during Labor Day weekend, when Camden Windjammer Festival (207/236-4404, www.visitcamden.com) brings two dozen tall ships to grace Camden’s harbor with boat parades, chowder contests, and fireworks.
