On any given day in the summer and early fall, several dozen artist studios are open for browsing. Flyers listing the open studios of the moment can be found throughout town—or you can just start knocking on doors. Many of the island’s most acclaimed artists hang on the walls of the Lupine Gallery (Wharf Hill Rd., 207/594-8131, 11 a.m.–4:30 p.m. daily June–Aug.; call for off-season hours), which is open seasonally. The gallery also sells paint, brushes, and paper if you are feeling inspired.
