Military Museum of Southern New England
History Channel buffs will want to stop by the Military Museum of Southern New England (125 Park Ave., 203/790-9277, www.usmilitarymuseum.org, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Tues.–Sat. and noon–5 p.m. Sun. Apr.–Nov.; 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Fri.–Sat. and 1–5 p.m. Sun. Dec.–Mar., $6 adults, $4 seniors and youth 5–18, free children under 5), which was founded to honor the tank brigades of World War II. Out front are three dozen armored battle vehicles; in the museum itself, dioramas and films detail famous tank battles.
Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum
The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum (258 Main St., Ridgefield, 203/438-4519, www.aldrichart.org, noon–5 p.m. Tues.–Sun., $7 adults, $4 seniors and college students, free for teachers and children 18 and under) has a strong history of rotating contemporary art exhibits, some with interesting themes such as “Native Americans in Contemporary Art.” The museum is particularly known for its outdoor sculpture garden.
