Fishing is Livingston’s recreation of choice, and many locals make their living from guiding.

Dan Bailey’s Fly Shop (209 W. Park St., 406/222-1673 or 800/356-4052, www.dan-bailey.com) is a good first stop for any angler; the staff can also set you up with a guide.

Guide services and a huge selection of flies are also available from Anderson’s Yellowstone Angler (406/222-7130, www.yellowstoneangler.com), which has a shop just south of town on Highway 89.

The Absaroka Range rises up just south of Livingston. One convenient trailhead into the Absarokas is Suce Creek, about 10 miles south of Livingston off the East River Road. Trails beginning here provide access to Livingston Peak, the north fork of Deep Creek, Blacktail Lake, and Elephant Head Mountain. About three miles farther south on the East River Road, the Deep Creek trail heads to the Davis Creek Divide.

Timber Trails (309 W. Park, 406/222-9550) rents and repairs bicycles.

The nine-hole Livingston Golf and Country Club (406/222-1100) is a public course on View Vista Drive at the foot of Main Street.

The city swimming pool is near the foot of Main Street just east of Sacagawea Park.
