For lunch, join park employees for sandwiches on the deck at the Sawtooth Deli (406/848-7600, 8 a.m.–9:30 p.m. Tues.–Sat., $7–8) or relax for a while with a tasty panini sandwich and a new book at Tumbleweed Bookstore and Cafe (Hwy. 89, 406/848-2225, $7–8).
Gardiner’s fancy restaurant is the Yellowstone Mine in the Best Western (406/848-7336, 6–11 a.m. and 5–9:30 p.m. daily, $8–22), and a good casual rib joint is Antler’s inside the Comfort Inn. For something a little bit Western, head to Red’s Blue Goose Saloon (406/848-7037) on Park Street.
About eight miles up the road in Corwin Springs, The Lighthouse (752 Hwy. 89 S., 5:30–9 p.m. daily, $13) has pan-Asian food, including spicy curries.
