American Computer Museum

Lest you think that all historical museums in Montana focus on early settlers, take note of the American Computer Museum, located in a small shopping center just north of I-90 on 7th Avenue (2304 N. 7th Ave., Bridger Park Mall, 406/582-1288, www.compustory.com, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Fri.–Wed., 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Thurs. June–Aug., 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Tues.–Wed. and Fri.–Sat., noon–4 p.m. Sun. Sept.–May, $5 ages 13 and up, $3 children 6–12). You’ll not see one old kitchen utensil in this surprisingly absorbing museum. Instead, ponder computers that seem immense and confusing and realize that they are little more than 20 years old. There’s also an exhibit that focuses on printing presses and includes a replica of the Gutenberg press and an actual page from the original Gutenberg Bible.
