Between Georgetown Lake and Philipsburg, Highway 1 follows Flint Creek down precipitous Flint Creek Canyon to the Philipsburg Valley. The terrain eventually becomes more hospitable to ranching, and between Philipsburg and Drummond the landscape becomes increasingly agrarian.
Whether it is the community’s isolation or the integrity of its Victorian-era architecture, Philipsburg has recently gained a reputation as a refuge for artists. Philipsburg has an exceedingly handsome Victorian-era town center, and each year sees another old building brought back to life with lots of paint, loving care, and entrepreneurial pride.
