Although Butte has many more dining options, it’s possible to find both pasties and multicourse meals in Anaconda.
Wind’s Bakery (208 E. Park, 406/563-2362) and June’s Pasty Shop (407 W. 3rd St., 406/563-2205) offer the local version of the meat-filled pies.
Despite its rather grim exterior, Barclay II Supper Club (1300 E. Commercial, 406/563-5541, dinner from 5 p.m. Tues.–Sun., $10–30) is Anaconda’s most stylish restaurant, serving large Italian-influenced meals with many courses.
A little more up-to-date, with microbrews (still evolving, we suspect) and grilled steak, fish, and pork is the Rocky Mountain Brewing Company (315 E. Commercial, 406/563-3317, 10 a.m.–9 p.m. daily, $7–20), with a brewery and an adjacent restaurant (which is permitted to serve beer until 8 p.m.).
