Nightlife
Several of Duluth’s best restaurants have music most nights. Black Water Lounge (231 Superior St. E., 218/740-0436, www.blackwaterlounge.com) hosts smoky jazz perfectly suited to its high-style atmosphere every Tuesday and Wednesday, 7:30–10:30 p.m.
It’s generally bluegrass, Celtic, and similar at Sir Benedict’s (805 Superior St. E., 218/728-1192, 11 a.m.–1 a.m. daily).
Folk artists play at Amazing Grace Bakery & Café (394 Lake Ave. S., 218/723-0075, 7 a.m.–10 p.m. Sun.–Thurs., 7 a.m.–11 p.m. Fri.–Sat.).
It could be anything at Beaner’s Central (324 Central Ave. N., 218/624-5957, 6:30 a.m.–8 p.m. Mon.–Tues. and Thurs., 6:30 a.m.–11 p.m. Wed. and Fri., 7 a.m.–11 p.m. Sat., 8 a.m.–7 p.m. Sun.) in West Duluth.
Pizza Luce (11 Superior St. E., 218/727-7400, www.pizzaluce.com, 8 a.m.–1:30 a.m. Sun.–Thurs., 8 a.m.–2:30 a.m. Fri.–Sat.) finds unusual bands to suit its funky atmosphere.
There’s music all over the place in the several bars in the Fitger’s complex, with Fitger’s Brewhouse (600 Superior St. E., 218/279-2739, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Sun.–Thurs., 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Fri.–Sat.), a particularly popular draw.
Carmody Irish Pub (308 Superior St. E., 218/740-4747, www.carmodyirishpub.com, 3 p.m.–1 a.m. daily) sometimes has Irish music on weekends.
Grandma’s Sports Garden (425 Lake Ave. S., 218/722-4724) in Canal Park clears the floor for dancing Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights.
