Many businesses downtown sell antiques or Amish goods. You can buy the latter, plus produce and baked goods, directly from the source on Saturday mornings when a small farmers market convenes in Sylvan Park. There is a smaller market on Wednesday afternoons.
The Cornucopia Art Center (103 Parkway Ave., 507/467-2446, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Mon.–Thurs., 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Fri.–Sat., 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Sun.) carries top-quality and often reasonably priced work by dozens of regional artists.
Frank Wright (106 Coffee St. E., 507/467-3376, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Thurs.–Sat., 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Sun., by appt. or by chance on other days), woodworker extraordinaire, primarily carves spoons, and you can pick up artistic utensils at his workshop.
The Scenic Valley Winery (101 Coffee St., 507/467-2958 or 888/965-0250, www.scenicvalleywinery.com, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Mon.–Sat., 1 p.m.–5 p.m. Sun.) mainly produces fruit vintages such as cranberry, rhubarb, and apple, plus green pepper and garlic cooking wines. Free samples are always available.
