Downtown Marquette is home to several distinctive shops worth a bit of browsing time. One pleasant stop is Bookworld (136 W. Washington St., 906/228-9490, www.bookworldstores.com, 9 a.m.–9 p.m. Mon.–Sat., 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Sun.), which offers a decent selection of local and regional titles.
The U.P.’s Scandinavian heritage also looms large in Marquette’s shopping district. Scandinavian Gifts (1025 N. 3rd, 906/225-1993, 9 a.m.–7 p.m. daily) showcases the sleek and simple lines of classic Scandinavian design in its selection of glassware and silver (lots of Norwegian sweaters, too).
