If you’re curious about the Kelloggs, you can visit the sanitarium, now the Battle Creek Federal Center (74 N. Washington Ave., 269/961-7015, www.dlis.dla.mil). Recognized on the National Register of Historic Places, the building now houses governmental and military offices, though there are still artifacts and other items on display about the Kellogg era.

If you’re looking for an engaging place to take the kids, try the Kingman Museum (175 Limit St., 269/965-5117, www.kingmanmuseum.org, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Tues.–Fri., 1–5 p.m. Sat., $5 adults, $4 seniors 65 and over, $3 children 3–18). The museum, which has been undergoing extensive renovations since 2006, offers a wide array of paleontological and anthropological artifacts, from fossils and skulls to Native American war shields. Visitors can also catch a star show in the new planetarium.
