The annual Heart of America Shakespeare Festival in July salutes the enduring contributions of the Bard as envisioned by festival founder Marilyn Strauss. Despite inclement weather, the first festival opened in 1993 and has since nearly quadrupled in size.
The festival’s highlight, a performance of a Shakespearian drama, is intertwined with classes, a poster and sonnet contest, and related lectures that make for a truly comprehensive event.
Shakespeare under the stars—it really is a mid-summer night’s dream.
