More than 300,000 visitors flock to the Plaza during the third weekend in September to view (and purchase) works from nearly 250 local, regional, and national artists. Born out of despair, the Plaza Art Fair began after the Great Depression as a way to entice local businesses to relocate to the shopping district.
Since then, the festival has evolved into a three-day spectacle that lines nine blocks. Art booths are interspersed with local restaurants offering cuisine and cocktails that transcend the culinary experience typical of festivals.
