Kansas City’s Japanese population may be small, but the annual mid-September celebration of all things Japanese is anything but. Enjoy performances including Ottawa suzuki strings, Okinawa dance and drum, and Yosakoi dance, among others.
Exhibits such as a miniature Japanese tearoom, wedding kimono display, and bonsai display provide a visual homage to important elements of Japanese culture, and traditional Japanese food service is available all day in the nearby Regnier–Cap Fed Room for an authentic taste of Japanese cuisine.
Other events include a Japanese beer and sake tasting, lecture series, and a shopping and cultural village in which festival visitors can experience authentic Japanese surroundings including a bank, craft shop, and face and nail painting.
