What began in 1899 as the National Hereford Show has evolved into the American Royal, otherwise known as “the world’s largest barbecue.” Typically held in early October, the Royal is equal parts barbecue competition, rodeo, and live-music event.
More than 70,000 flock to the Royal to eat, drink, and celebrate. Come hungry, wear comfortable shoes, and savor the unofficial cuisine of Cowtown.
Parking is available at the American Royal complex, and shuttles also run to and from Union Station.
