Of the lower-price hotels in Santa Rosa, Hotel Rosario (tel. 504/662-0211, US$8 pp shared bath or US$11 pp private bath), half a block north of Hotel Copán, is one of the better, with clean and quiet rooms.

Recently refurnished and much better than previously, Hotel Santa Eduviges (tel. 504/662-0380, US$13 s, US$21 d), two blocks from the park, has simple rooms with private bathrooms, TV, fan, and hot water.

An interesting low-cost option, available through the tourist office in the park, is a homestay (tel. 504/662-0425, US$10.50 s, US$18–24 d) run by the very sweet Doña Aura de Montalván, who lives on the ground floor. Doña Aura rents out three rooms upstairs that share a sitting area and kitchen—all very clean, comfortable, and spacious. You can also book via email by contacting the tourist office (turismosrc [at] yahoo [dot] com) and see pictures of the rooms at the town’s website, www.visitesantarosadecopan.org (click on hoteles, then alojamiento con familia).
