The Museo Casa K’inich (8 a.m.–noon and 1–5 p.m. Mon.–Sat.), in the old cuartel, a barracks building atop a hill five blocks north of the square, is a small, free interactive children’s museum with well-done displays, including traditional musical instruments, lessons on Mayan numbers, and displays of the Mayan ball game.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be much money left over from their recent move for maintenance of the exhibits, some of which are already showing signs of wear and tear. Be sure to climb the ladders into the cuartel turrets for the expansive views over the town and the Río Copán valley.
