• Trailhead: Look for the trail, an old road leading south across a meadow, four miles along the Point Sublime Trail

The Tiyo Point Trail starts along the rugged four-wheel-drive road to Point Sublime, so just getting to the trailhead can be quite an adventure. From the lodge, drive a mile past the North Kaibab Trail parking lot, turn left onto the dirt road for the Widforss Trail, then continue on the Point Sublime Trail.

At approximately four miles, you’ll reach a large meadow called the Basin. A dirt road, now closed to all but foot traffic, leads south across the meadow. You won’t find a trailhead marker, only a sign indicating that the road is closed to vehicles.

After crossing the meadow, the trail enters a mixed forest of pine, fir, and aspen, descending gradually toward the canyon. Ignore the faint side trails and continue on the main trail, an old Jeep road. About a mile from the rim, you’ll begin to catch glimpses of the canyon through the trees.

The rim is brushy and sloping, and the trail turns toward a picnic table. For better views, take the short side trail to an open area, where you can see Osiris and Isis Temples rising from the canyon.
