Cirque du Soleil — La Nouba

One of the Canadian postmodern circus’s three permanent productions, La Nouba (6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tues.–Sat., adults $53–117, children $43–94) is one of the most popular—and priciest—attractions at the Walt Disney World Resort. With a custom-built theater containing more than 1,500 seats—none of which are bad, but some of which are excellent—the eight weekly performances routinely sell out.
Conceived as more of a night of theater than an excursion to the circus, the performances, in Cirque du Soleil fashion, are dramatic and story-based. Given its location, La Nouba is more family-friendly than some of Cirque’s racier productions, but by no means is this show any less dazzling. Acrobats, gymnasts, dancers, and stunt performers display their astounding prowess in a highly choreographed and intricately staged fashion.
There’s a more explicit “circus” theming to La Nouba than with some other Cirque performances, and though younger kids may not grasp some of the symbolism and storyline, they’ll doubtlessly be wowed by the strength and skills of the performers and the explosively colorful production.
