Just like the Magic Kingdom’s Main Street, U.S.A., Hollywood Studio’s Hollywood Boulevard is a mood-setting thoroughfare that allows visitors to slough off the outside world and transport themselves into the glory days of Hollywood. Appropriately, the only real “attraction” here other than an array of shops is The Great Movie Ride.
One of the original attractions that opened with the park in 1989, this ride is definitely showing its age. Viewers ride on a tram that takes them through a sort of “living” highlight reel of the last 100 years of moviemaking. Extensive set pieces and animatronic figures recreate scenes from Casablanca, Public Enemy No. 1, Alien, and more.
You may find yourself wishing that your ultra-chatty tour guide would get kidnapped along the way…and your dream will end up coming true. The 20-minute ride culminates with a montage of great film moments, all set to a majestic and heart-tugging score.
