With only 50 guest rooms set on a wide expanse of beach,
The Inn At Cocoa Beach (4300 Ocean Beach Blvd., Cocoa Beach, 321/799-3460, www.theinnatcocoabeach.com, from $150 d) feels almost like a private resort. With staff that seem to have had lots of training in personal hospitality, the inn tries hard to make guests feel at home, making it feel almost like a bed-and-breakfast. The guest rooms are priced reasonably, which means that advance reservations are a must. Most of the guest rooms have hardwood floors, and all but a few have ocean views; the rest overlook the pool, and all guest rooms have a private balcony or porch area. Airy and furnished in a panoply of different styles, the guest rooms are decidedly unique but consistently tasteful and comfortable.
A little less classy—but a whole lot cheaper—is the castle-tropical–Old Florida–themed Fawlty Towers (100 E. Cocoa Beach Causeway, Cocoa Beach, 321/784-3870, www.fawltytowersresort.com, from $74 d). Smack-dab in the middle of Cocoa’s tourist zone, the full-kitchen efficiencies and mini-suites are a favorite with families. The other guest rooms are basic and clean. Nighttime libations are available at the poolside tiki bar, which serves a decent selection of beer.
