It’s hard to decide what’s coolest about the St. Augustine Alligator Farm (999 Anastasia Ave., 904/824-3337, www.alligatorfarm.us, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. daily, $21.95 adults, $10.95 children). Is it the albino alligators? The gigantic vultures? The 15-foot-long behemoth saltwater crocodile known as Maximo? Or is it the even larger—but dead and stuffed—Gomek? Oh, choices, choices. In addition to 23 species of crocodilians, the Alligator Farm is also home to komodo dragons, kookaburras, marmosets, and various other animals that don’t get nearly enough marquee time at most zoos.
Across the street is the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum (81 Lighthouse Ave., 904/829-0745, www.staugustinelighthouse.com, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. daily, $9 adults, $8 seniors, $7 children, children 5 and under free).
