Museum of Arts & Sciences
While certainly not substantial enough to build a trip around, the Museum of Arts & Sciences (352 S. Nova Rd., 386/255-0285, www.moas.org, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Mon.–Sat., 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Sun., $12.95 adults, $10.95 seniors and students, $6.95 children, children 5 and under free) is a cute populist institution. Permanent exhibits built around Cuban art and Florida history are augmented by visiting exhibits that range from Egyptian mummies to Barbie dolls.
The oddly immersive and deeply nostalgic Root Family Museum exhibit features a hodgepodge of toys, race cars, Coca-Cola memorabilia, and even a full-size 1940s-era railroad car.
